Lady’s Night

Saved from a downpour

The plan is to leave very early. Yesterday, I only walked a few hundred meters, and now I should be on my way again. But still… once again, I’m leaving late. Really late, in fact. However, this did save me from a downpour because when I finally wanted to leave, I could quickly run back into the hut. Later, I will experience some more showers, but thankfully not as severe. Happy me.

A new sport, wildly popular

Today, I am getting acquainted with a new sport: footgolf. I’ve never seen it before, but judging by the crowd, it is extremely popular. The goal is to get a soccer ball into a hole, which is of course much larger than those in regular golf.

Forest and heath paths and a beautiful lake

Once again, I walk all day over forest and heath paths and through meadows. No asphalt and hardly any gravel. I love it. At the end of the day, I arrive at the beautiful Bølling Sø, a fairly large lake. I haven’t seen that here before. I climb to a viewpoint to survey everything. Yet another beautiful spot.

Shelter occupied, visitors not welcome

On to the shelter now, just a few more kilometers. However, the hut turns out to be occupied by three Danish friends, probably escaping from husbands and kids for a bit. Although they are very friendly, I can sense that they weren’t expecting visitors. They also seem to be deep in conversation. “Full house,” I comment, “but no worries, I’ll pitch my tent over there.”

The shelter is spacious enough for six to eight people and as long as there is space, you should let others in. Still, it doesn’t seem like a good idea to me. Besides, I prefer to sleep alone rather than among strangers. My aunt jokes the next day: “You missed your chance!” I have a good laugh about it, but I’m glad I didn’t ruin this Ladies’ Night.

Midges attack

By the way, I hope they slept well in the open shelter. When I later wanted to write a bit at the picnic table, I was attacked by a swarm of midges, those tiny biting flies. Unbearable, so I quickly fled into my tent. After that, I slept wonderfully in my tent, safely behind the mesh.
