Hello Norway

I feel lost

It’s a strange feeling again: I don’t feel at home at the campsite with all those people. On that first night after, with noisy neighbors arriving late and leaving early, there really isn’t much to complain about. Everything is clean, well organized, and I have my temporary luxury. Only the spots are close together and I’m right in front of a caravan with an awning. Luckily, it’s not high season yet. Still, I don’t feel comfortable. In such moments, I miss the people I love. I can be perfectly alone in nature, but here suddenly less so. I feel a bit lost. Just not nice.

Thunderstorm, pack quickly

At six o’clock I wake up and see that a thunderstorm is forecasted for nine o’clock. So I pack my things early, to keep them dry. In the canteen, I’m preparing for my next adventure: the Tunsbergleden, from Larvik to Oslo.

On the ferry

The ferry departs at 12:45 PM. As we board, the weather has changed. The sea is calm and almost ripple-free, the sun is shining. I stand outside on the deck for almost an hour. Slowly I see the Danish coast getting smaller. I have taken Denmark to my heart, even though I don’t necessarily want to return to all the endless fields and old railway lines that seemed to have no end.

Scandinavian siesta

The crossing lasts less than three hours, but feels longer. For the first time, I buy coffee; I usually make it myself. This one is also good and affordable, and my caffeine needs are met again. However, I do doze off a little shortly afterwards. It is indeed siesta time.

Land in sight!

As soon as Norway comes into view, I go outside again. First, I see containers and cranes, then Larvik itself: the church, the harbor, and the typical Norwegian red houses. I’m here. Norway! Right from the boat, I see the signs for the Tunsbergleden. You can’t miss it.

Sleeping in a palace

15 kilometers away there is a shelter that I had already selected at the campsite. Wild camping close to a city is often challenging, so I’m playing it safe today. And what a shelter… I can stand up in it and move around. A palace, right in nature. With a view to die for. I believe I’m starting to feel at home again, especially so close to the village of Løve ❤️

Overnight stay: Løve near Tjøllingvollen
