Help, I am at a campsite

Phew, it’s quite a change… I find myself at a real campground. I’m assigned a spot that I would never have chosen myself, and just as I finally manage to sleep, I get noisy neighbors. It’s already past eleven, and they’re talking loudly and making a lot of noise.

The next morning, they leave at six o’clock. Again with loud conversations, some bickering, and a rumbling car engine. Why do you start a car five minutes before leaving? I find it quite inconsiderate. Just swallow it down, Marnix, swallow.

Wild camping in Norway, almost again

Tomorrow, I’m off into nature again. To Norway. And there, wild camping is allowed. I’m really looking forward to it: no need to consider distances to shelters, less planning, and more freedom. Exactly what I’m looking for. Only the supermarkets are still somewhat limiting, but that’s not too bad either. For emergencies, I always keep a few packs of noodles handy, not enough vitamins and such, but I won’t starve anytime soon.

My barefoot shoes are as good as new

In the morning, I entertain myself by cleaning my barefoot shoes and writing. The campsite is right by the sea, and the atmosphere is actually very cozy and calm. I think I’ve just had bad luck with my nighttime neighbors, who were clearly just passing through but kept half the campsite awake.

Here it is, summer!

And suddenly it’s summer on my last day in Denmark. Not as hot as in the Netherlands, thankfully, where temperatures are said to reach 35 degrees. Here, it’s a pleasant 23 degrees with plenty of sunshine. You won’t hear me complain.

Rest. So.

I stroll through Hirtshals, buy yogurt, fruit, salmon, and vegetables at the supermarket. I still have some wine from yesterday. Then I meander along the harbor and the beach.

Well, what else is there to say about a rest day? Nothing. This.
