Enjoying in my palace

The late evening and night in my shelter palace are simply magical. I watch the sky slowly change from blue to pink and enjoy so much space and comfort. It feels like a new beginning. I needed this. A different country, different weather, and a different vibe. Nothing against Denmark and the Hærvejen, but it didn’t all come easily.

I need water

After sleeping in, reading, texting, and Instagramming, it gets later and later. I actually just want to stay here. There’s no shortage of food, as just before the ferry, I realized I had about forty euros worth of Danish kroner. In the supermarket, I quickly stocked up on non-perishables. Four ounces of vegetables won’t happen today, but I definitely won’t starve. Just water is an issue. Five kilometers away, I see a campsite by a small harbor. That’s where I’m heading. I’ll return tonight.

To the beach

That proves to be an excellent plan. The campsite is beautifully located by the sea, and with Wheelie as support, I sit on the beach for a while. Not quite twenty degrees, but with the sun, it’s perfect. This is living, folks!

Creativity in the kitchen

I walk on to the small harbor of Ula and make my warm meal there. A creative mix of noodles with mackerel and tomato, plus two tortilla wraps with tuna. Not exactly haute cuisine, but it tastes great. A day without much vegetable it is. With a banana and two apples, I gather some vitamins today.

Zen in the harbor

At my dinner table – read: picnic table with a view of the picturesque harbor – I write a bit and drink tea. I feel completely zen again. I’m looking forward to what’s coming. I absolutely love the contrasts of Norway: the lovely houses and flowers against those huge, rugged dark gray rocks, often covered with the most beautiful mosses in all shades of green.

Back in my palace

After two hours, I get back on my way. Returning to my shelter palace, I arrive around ten. I am tired. I am satisfied. But above all: I am looking forward to tomorrow and much, much more.
