A morning of lounging in the shelter
The shelter with doors and this beautiful spot is so nice that I linger until noon after sleeping for ten hours. I have breakfast in the sun and feel completely rejuvenated. What a luxury. Moreover, I am in no hurry. In this part of the Hærvejen, there aren’t many shelters left, so I have to stop after about twenty kilometers. Otherwise, it nearly doubles, and I’m not in the mood for that today.
Howling wind around the shelter
All night the wind howled around the shelter. Inside, with the doors closed, it felt wonderfully secure. I was a bit apprehensive about this day, but fortunately, the wind is easing up. Finally some luck, I thought. Because it doesn’t stay dry, of course.
Puffing and groaning at the lighthouse
A beautiful route follows through the dunes. Only superlatives. There’s a picnic table by the lighthouse. That’s for me! I make coffee and watch the people walk by. The lighthouse is a tourist attraction, and for the first time during my entire journey, I see quite a few visitors. The nearest parking lot is a kilometer and a half away, and they still have to walk through the loose sand. I hear them puffing and grunting. That’s quite a challenge.
It was too beautiful to be true
I enjoy the sun and the lovely weather. But it doesn’t last long. First, some drizzle, then more rain. Back into the rain jacket. And it doesn’t stop. Too bad, but unfortunately. Good for the plants, we’ll say.
The Danish summer, a disappointment
When I reach the charming village of Lønstrup, almost everything is closed. There are plenty of terraces, restaurants, and art galleries, but in this weather, it’s deserted. I had imagined the Danish summer differently. Cold and wet, I arrive at my shelter. I hang up my laundry line and try to keep everything a little dry. It is what it is. But fun is another matter.
