This is life!

Pure writer’s luxury

It’s almost noon again as I leave Palace number 2. This was yet another excellent night with all the comforts. I even have a table in the cabin, allowing me to sit comfortably and write early in the morning. Still in my nightgown, my bare legs in my sleeping bag because it’s still quite chilly. This is pure writer’s luxury.

Writing in complete silence

I can honestly say this is the life I had envisioned. Writing early in the morning and in silence, as that’s when I’m inspired. I rarely write in the evening. And having a proper table is quite lovely too. Coffee in hand, and let the words flow. By the way, I’m not just referring to these daily reports but to other writings as well. You’ll undoubtedly hear more about those. Quite different from this daily fiddling.

Horrible climb

Today it’s quite warm. Thank goodness not the temperatures that are currently plaguing the rest of Europe, but I’ve never experienced the mercury rising to 25 degrees before. The route mainly goes through the forest, which is delightful. Plenty of shade and something different for a change. I also tackle the steepest ascent I’ve had so far. A very long climb over annoying little stones. Fortunately, my heart is still doing well; it’s working hard.

Off the beaten path again

In this part of the forest, I actually see opportunities for wild camping, although they are scarce. But it’s still too early for that, and besides, I need water. Still, I decide to deviate from the route once more and head towards the coast. There are two shelter options: one in the forest and one beautifully situated by the sea. So, I’m going off my path again.

Rock and Roll

This takes me through the town of Holmestrand. At first glance, it looks a bit dull and dreary, but the promenade is a lovely place to be. People are enthusiastically dancing rock and roll, sitting on benches to chat, and the youth are having a great time in and on the water. There are swimming docks and steps everywhere.

Sunset

For me: people-watching, a supermarket, fresh water, and then another three kilometers to my sleeping spot, right by a peaceful inland sea. It’s magnificent. I enjoy the sunset. And life.
