Clean underwear and sweet dreams

My laundry isn’t drying

Ugh, with this wet weather, nothing dries. After hand washing, I hung my laundry on the line in the dark shelter, but in the morning everything still seems just as wet. I hang part of it on my cart, and the rest I store damp. Not ideal, but it can’t be helped.

Shrimp from Greenland

At the supermarket, I buy shrimp from Greenland. Tiny, but luckily already peeled by handy hands; otherwise, I’d still be at it. Not long after, I prepare my warm meal, vegetables with red curry, and of course the shrimp, using Wheelie as my laundry pole this time. I stretch a line between the cart and the table, and voilà, thanks to the wind and the sun, my laundry is almost dry by the time my coffee – with chocolate, duh – is done. I have clean underwear again! As a nomad, you can find happiness in the smallest things. Well, call it small.

Quiet tourism and my dream house

Around Blokhus, it’s more touristy, but it’s exactly what a tourist dreams of. Occasionally, you see a holiday home hidden in the dunes. The roofs are covered with grass and moss. They almost disappear into the landscape; the same colors, the same materials. Just fantastic. I stop for a moment at one of the houses. This is where I would like to hold a writing retreat. The perfect place to write beautiful things with time and finish my book. What a dream…

The Canadian cyclist

When I arrive at my sleeping spot, there is already a bike, and the shelter is set up for the night. The friendly Canadian, Patrick, has made himself comfortable. He is cycling through Scandinavia for six months. It’s his first time in Europe, and he is amazed at how everything works here and how much trust there is. Indeed, that’s exactly what is so beautiful about Scandinavia. In the Netherlands, just like in Canada, such a place would probably have long become a mess or, even worse, vandalized.

Alone in my tent

Because I prefer to sleep alone and it’s a small shelter, I set up my tent. Definitely not a punishment. We chat a bit longer, sheltered in the cabin against the now strong, fresh wind, before Patrick goes to sleep and I dive into my tent.

A lovely evening at the end of a splendid day.
