A forbidden garden, escaped cows, and a heavy hiking trailer

Hard work at the tip of the fjord

My goodness, this place is beautiful and peaceful. I don’t know what I’ve done here, but although I woke up early, I won’t leave until a quarter to twelve. How is that?

I’m a bit annoyed because tomorrow is Saturday, and I want to be at the outdoor store in Vejle for gas and ant-repellent before three o’clock. Well, I guess I’ll just walk longer. The path is difficult but stunning. Narrow trails along cliffs and fallen trees everywhere. Hard work.

Two Frisians in the jungle

In the middle of the jungle, I come across two cyclists. One is wearing a Friesland shirt, so he must be a Frisian. They warn me about the path ahead. I mainly wonder what they are doing here on bikes, as this terrain is totally unsuitable. They ask if it gets better further on, and I say it does.

Incorrect information

Later, I realize that I took a different, well-maintained route on the way out. There’s a good chance I misinformed them. That doesn’t sit well with me. How silly.

Lunch at the church

I let out a joyful shout when I discover that there’s a church right by the supermarket with water, a toilet, and a table. Perfect. I prepare my dinner, which tastes wonderful. Eating outside is always so nice. But I need to move on quickly if I want to reach the next shelter.

Escaped cows block the path

Then comes the fright of the day. On a narrow path between two lakes, three cows suddenly appear. I immediately see that there’s a hole in the fence. Thankfully, no calves, but I need to get past them. To my surprise, they seem more scared of me than I am of them. Every time I get closer, they run a little further away. Eventually, they panic and dash through the barbed wire. So sad. I hope they didn’t hurt themselves.

Stairway to hell

It gets later and later. On the beach, where sand and stones make walking difficult, I decide to take a shortcut up some stairs. Big mistake. The stairs are steep, high, and endless. When I finally reach the top, it doesn’t lead to a road, but into a garden. I really don’t want to go back. There’s no one home, so I quickly make my way through the garden.

And so, just before dark, I arrive at my next sleeping spot. I did it again!
