A great gift: a shower!

Although I had planned to take my promised shower early, once again, nothing comes of it. I find it hard to get going quickly, resulting in me only feeling the desired streams of warm water on my back at eleven o’clock. What a luxury.

The stream isn’t large, but the bathroom is spotless, and this is a great service from the tourist information center of Bække. When I leave, I want to thank the lady, but she is nowhere to be found. All the doors are open, everything is left out in the open. That can happen in Denmark. I write a thank-you note in the guestbook and finally set off, fresh as a daisy.

Harry the world cyclist

But not for long. Just two hundred meters further, I meet Harry, a Dutch cyclist of around seventy. We talk for a while about our travels. He has cycled quite a bit in his lifetime and retired early. Less money, but great adventures. I completely agree with him.

Gioia, the Italian influencer

Meanwhile, it’s already an hour later. After not walking long, I’m hungry again, and at a table in the shade, because yes, it’s warm!, I prepare my warm meal. It tastes excellent again.

Just as I have packed everything up, two hikers approach. It turns out to be Gioia (on Instagram @gioiaincammino and also to be found on YouTube) and Alessandro from Italy. Look at that, now I’m even in contact with a real international influencer. Her account is really nice. It’s in Italian, but since it’s subtitled and I speak fluent Spanish, I can follow along quite well.

Long story short: I also have a long and enjoyable conversation with them. We talk about always being on the go, eating well, and making your dreams come true. As a result, by four o’clock, I have only managed to cover seven kilometers… At this rate, I’m never getting to Sweden, haha.

Fortunately, I still have the urge to walk, and it stays light for a long time. Ultimately, I walk over 22 kilometers to end up at a beautiful, secluded shelter in the middle of the forest. After so much human interaction, I’m sure I will sleep very well.
