Not alone after all, an unexpected meeting
I thought I was alone, but someone came along. For a moment I was disappointed because I was enjoying my solitude and felt inspired to write, but that feeling disappeared quickly. I had a great evening with Konrad, who like me has just come off a sabbatical and is now figuring out how he wants to shape his life moving forward.
We had a wonderful conversation and he asked me a few questions that really made me think. I will surely write about that later.
Dream interpreters welcome
Nevertheless, we went to bed early. It’s not even 9 PM, but I quickly fall asleep. I dream strangely. I usually don’t dream at home, so this is quite special. I was flying in a glider that crashed into a river, after which a number of middle-aged women took care of me. A dream interpreter can tell me what this means.
It’s infested with ticks here
Konrad had already noticed: there are a lot of ticks in Jutland. He started in the north, maybe there are more there, because I hadn’t seen any yet. That didn’t last long. When I wake up at 2 AM and check the time, one is casually walking across my screen. Suddenly, everything starts to itch. I check my body, but see nothing.
After an hour of walking, I still find one on my wrist, then two on my leg and one on my stomach, those pesky creatures. I spray myself with tick repellent that I really prefer not to use. It smells awful and I feel like you can smell it from miles away, but I want to take as little risk as possible.
I’d like to go to church like this more often
At the church in Jegerup, I am warmly welcomed by the gardener/gravedigger, who also gives tours and provides coffee and chocolates. What more could I want? I refill my water, receive coffee with chocolate, can use the restroom, and quickly do a small wash. Read: my underwear, which can then hang to dry on my cart. The gifts along the way.
Am I becoming a romantic after all
Then follows a beautiful route through forests and along meandering brooklets full of flowers. It’s almost enough to make one feel romantic, it’s so lovely.
Perfect shelter by the lake of Jels
At the end of the day, I arrive in Jels, where I cook by the lake and set up my sleeping area in a shelter by that same water.
