Will they do it or not?
For the second morning, I wake up in my shelter in the clearing in the woods. I am calm again after yesterday’s day at the church. Exciting, because I am curious if the solar panels are working again. I connect them… and yes, the blue lights start to flicker. They work! A relief for me. This gives me a piece of autonomy again.
Berries from Morocco
It is Monday morning and the supermarket is now open. I buy berries, beautiful large blue ones from Morocco. Not long after, I walk along a forest path through the blueberry bushes and indeed, the first ones are already ripe. Still a bit sour, but in not too long, I can pick them myself. Delightful.
Lived-through fear of getting lost
Fortunately, I feel much better too. I have lived through my fear of getting lost again. On to the next chapter. On to Sweden.
Alone at the picnic spot
The route mainly goes through forests. I love it: winding paths, a soft ground of pine needles, and muted footsteps. Yet I am not walking well today. Therefore, I gratefully use a picnic spot with a very nice hut. The place to barbecue with friends or even spend the night. Alone… I am here by myself.
Wild camping becomes a task
Wild camping here does not seem easy, by the way. The forest ground is everywhere bumpy or rocky, and my tent is not freestanding. I set it up with hiking poles and pegs, so I need a flat piece with suitable ground.
Dream life
Later, when I sit on a bench by a chicken coop, Adrian speaks to me. We start chatting, and I tell him about my journey. “That sounds like the dream life,” he says. I smile. “It is.” I tell him that it once seemed impossible for me too. Until I made the decision. After that, I suddenly saw opportunities that I had never noticed before.
Dream cottage
Adrian says that they own a small cottage, about eight hundred meters away. I can stay overnight or pitch my tent there. I can take water. And would I perhaps like some eggs from their chickens? I am instantly happy. What a wonderful offer, what hospitality. Sweden can wait another day.
