Where does the time go?

Two months on the road

Two months have passed since I closed the door behind me in Alkmaar. To be honest, I hardly have a sense of time anymore. Often, I don’t even know what day it is, let alone the date. But does that really matter? Only if something happens to me and they ask in the hospital what day it is. Then they’ll probably think I’m confused, because I usually miss it by a few days.

Warm night

It was warm in the cottage last night. I sleep poorly and don’t leave until one o’clock. I just can’t seem to get going. It’s strange, isn’t it? Because once I’m walking, it’s always wonderful. But getting started… if someone has a solution for that, I’d love to hear it.

Wild camping prohibited

Fortunately, I don’t have to walk too much today. My plan is to walk along the sea to Hunnebostrand and then find a wild camping spot just before the Ramsvikslandet nature reserve. It is supposed to be beautiful and is on the agenda for tomorrow. Wild camping is prohibited there and the campsite is fully booked, so I need to be able to pitch my tent just beforehand.

Granite art

Hunnebostrand surprises me. In a former quarry lies the Udden Sculpture Park. Gigantic granite boulders drop steeply into the sea, and among them stand sculptures by artists from various countries. What I might like most is that the sculptures aren’t on pedestals, but just between the rocks. As if they’ve always been there. I keep walking around for a while, wondering over and over how someone manages to do that. Granite is so hard that I can hardly imagine you can carve such shapes from it.

High diving towers, not for me anymore

A bit further, I stop by a few high diving towers. When I was about eight, I jumped thoughtlessly from the highest board. Now I feel nervous just looking at them. Funny how that changes.

At the end of the day, I find exactly what I was looking for: a wild camping spot, two kilometers before the nature reserve. Tomorrow, Ramsvikslandet awaits!
