Question 4: What do you do if you get sick on the road?

No idea!

I try to live in the moment as much as possible and I won’t worry about problems in the future that might not even happen. That means worrying twice. I’m really not going to waste my energy on that.

If I get sick, I’ll figure out what to do then. Is it not so bad? I’ll just stay in my tent for a few days or book a hostel. Am I worried or don’t know what’s going on? Then I’ll look for a doctor. That’s what they’re for. Is it really serious or life-threatening? Then I’ll call 112 or the number that applies in that country. I always make sure I know what that number is. And of course, I am well insured.

And now let’s just hope that I can maintain my good health. Something for which I am, by the way, GRATEFUL EVERY DAY and that I never take for granted.

Asking costs nothing. Do you have a question? Every Sunday, I answer one.

NB. Due to technical issues, I wasn’t able to publish this week on Sunday. But here it is!

Vragen kost nix is Dutch for “Asking costs nothing.” Nix is a playful, made-up word. It doesn’t actually exist in Dutch. It’s a phonetic spelling of niks, the Dutch word for nothing, and it’s also a nod to my name, Marnix, shortened to Nix. Every Sunday, I publish a new edition of Vragen kost nix, where I answer a question from one of my followers. It can be about my travels, life on the road, or anything else they’re curious about. So, if you have a question, just ask. Asking costs nix!
