Swimming before bed, heavenly
It’s a pity that I can’t swim every day. Especially just before going to sleep, it really works wonders. I sleep so well. I enjoy my little beach and the view for a while longer. I have a good breakfast, four slices of brown bread, and I’m off again.
I’m scared, I don’t feel well
But strangely enough, I don’t feel well. Dizzy and a bit off. I have my phone ready in case something happens. I’ve witnessed too many strokes in my immediate surroundings, and it’s always been a nightmare of mine that it would happen to me as well. Often, you can’t call for help anymore. But it doesn’t really feel like a stroke, although I don’t know exactly how that feels. More like a kind of hunger pang. So I stop again and eat more. A lot. And indeed, after that, I just keep walking cheerfully.
I’m fighting against myself
It’s eighteen degrees and there’s a strong wind, wind force six. Not really pleasant. I keep my fleece on all day, which doesn’t often happen. I’m usually warm enough, especially with all those climbs. I’m fighting against the mountain, but mostly against myself. I want to be there already. I don’t want to walk. My cart is getting quite empty, so I will have to find a supermarket soon.
Injured by a beetle
When I stop for a moment to check my route, I suddenly feel a sharp pain in my big toe. A large black beetle runs away under the leaves. It really got me good. My toe is bleeding. Some beetles can bite or pinch hard enough to break the skin if they feel threatened. Strange. I was just standing still. I disinfect the wound. Well, the little injury. No need to exaggerate. And I continue on my way. Sometimes walking in open shoes just isn’t the most practical.
Shelter by the road
The route is beautiful, but at times quite challenging. It’s not easy for me. Also, the location of the shelter is a bit disappointing. But well, you can’t expect to be at a top location every day. Not long after, a car drives up. The shelter is just off a gravel road. A man jumps out and sees that I’m already in the shelter. I point him to the other shelter, fifty meters further away.
Marijuana in the shelter
When he hears that I’m from the Netherlands, he is pleasantly surprised. ‘We’re going there next week. We love to smoke. If you want some, we have some, you know. We’ll enjoy it at the shelter over there.’ I politely decline. No drugs for me. I have enough with my coffee.
Higher spirits
Later, the man comes back for a moment. ‘If we make noise, just let us know. Sometimes we don’t realize it. Enjoy the nature in Sweden!’ I don’t hear them at all during the whole evening and night. They light a fire, smoke, and probably enjoy in higher spirits. And I dream sweetly.
